Testimonials

“I took Sue's BASICS+ and Qigong classes out of curiosity primarily. Having had rheumatoid arthritis since childhood, I have tried so many (so many!) things in hopes of getting some pain relief and slowing the progression of joint deterioration that I thought, "why not see what these classes are all about?" They sounded just exotic enough to pull me in. Meanwhile, my doctor had recently told me surgery was my best option to stop my ankle pain...not on my wish list. So, I started attending the classes. Sue's fun and calm encouragement kept me coming back and then one day, after only a couple of classes, I walked to my car and noticed my severe ankle pain wasn't there, what?! I have continued taking Sue's classes, and doing her suggested homework, and my ankles have been feeling really good. I am back to taking walks with my husband and doing those things I had curtailed due to my ankle pain. I have also noticed my energy is much better without my RA fatigue so present. I would highly recommend these classes to anyone who wants to take back their health!”

"When I’ve completed a full session from Sue’s online classes, I feel an innate sense of peace, knowing that I’ve done self care for today, that will serve me in my future. My parents lived into their 90’s which means I have 20+ years of self care ahead of me to reach that same age, only with more strength, balance and agility. Sue is so easy to follow, and even the short videos are super beneficial. I’m so grateful to have been introduced to Sue and love incorporating Qigong into my life."

“I think of QiGong as the third way- having practiced both Yoga and Tai Chi. In Sue Brian’s “no stress”QiGong class, the slow relaxed movements with intentional breathing is for me, the perfect end of the week wind down. I look forward to it each Friday evening. Sue is wonderful at explaining and modeling the moves and making everyone feel at ease.”

“As a new Qi Gong student, Sue at Twin Oaks Wellness, modeled movements, broke them down into steps as I was moving, and then allowed me to review recorded sessions during the week to continue to practice. She was warm and welcoming and sent written materials in addition to in-class explanations of Qi Gong generally and related to our practices.

As a continuing student, I value the variety of recorded session lengths, and focus areas (love the getting ready for sleep sessions and getting ready for the day sessions). My body, mind, and spirit feel more connected and alive during and after sessions. I look forward to both the live and recorded Qi Gong sessions with Sue. Qi Gong stretches and strengthens areas of my body that have not always been attended to. It feels so good! Sue is a gentle and knowledgeable teacher.

Thank you so very much for teaching me how my body is integrated and I feel like I have so much more agency with listening to it, understanding what it is trying to tell me and then DOING something supportive for it.”

I highly recommend Twin Oaks!

“I've done Tai Chi and Yoga and enjoyed both but I really appreciated the fluidity and flexibility of Qi Gong. I wasn't worried about memorizing or keeping up. Being in Sue's class was like taking a rejuvenating bath. She shaped our practice to the season (fall) and explained how the movements we did were affecting our organs. So, on top of feeling buoyant and energized afterwards, I learned a lot! Sue's energy was so warm and gentle - it was lovely to just be around her. I'm looking forward to my next class with Sue!”

“Sue is an excellent instructor – compassionate and knowledgeable; she presents new exercises, stretches and techniques plus repeats and builds on the B.A.S.I.C.S of the class. Sue consistently shows an alternative or adjustment if a specific movement is difficult or painful for an individual. Personally, I started taking Sue’s B.A.S.I.C.S. class in early July 2025 as I had a lot of shoulder/neck pain due to 2 compressed cervical vertebra. After the very first class, the pain was much alleviated for at least 4 days. It felt like a miracle! I have continued to enjoy her class to this day, and I would recommend it to anyone trying to build strength, flexibility and manage ageing well.”

“After experiencing the traumatic loss of my cottage during the Eaton fire in beautiful Altadena. It left me feeling exhausted and stressed, contributing to my suboptimal mental and physical health. Sue reached out and invited me to share her wellness class After just the first Qi Gong class I noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels and overall well-being.

The personalized approach and holistic focus on mind-body harmony have been invaluable in helping me manage the stress and enhance my vitality.

The convenience of these techniques has made me more able to integrate these quick and effective stretches into my life , relieving my discomfort, improving my posture and mental health.

These easy-to-follow practices fit perfectly into my personal life and have made a significant difference in my daily comfort and has boosted my overall sense of well-being.”

“I’ve been told for years that I needed to take deeper breaths and connect my mind to my body. I never knew what people were talking about! I tried everything under the sun, and nothing ever worked. Then, I walked into Sue's class and everything just clicked.

Each class with Sue is something to look forward to. It's often the only moment during a busy week where I get to slow down and feel grounded. But it's not only about that --- in Sue's class, you get to move your body, you get to release so much from your mind, and you walk away from each class feeling like your body and mind got just what it needed.

In physical classes and learning from coaches, I've often struggled to mimic motions. Sue makes it easy because she does your mirror image. Her explanations are so intuitive. Sue is encouraging but also gives students just the right amount of guidance to help their form. You can learn so much from just carefully watching Sue since she's such a truly skillful teacher, and someone who moves with such grace and energy. I honestly prefer Sue's instruction to other online teachers but the live classes make it a thousand times better!

I highly recommend Sue's Modern Qigong classes, as well as her Breathe and Flow class. Sue has much more in her repertoire and I would love to take her other classes too.”

“I took Sue Brian's Qigong on Friday afternoon and what great way to start the weekend! “Qigong is like meditation in motion. It helps quiet the mind while energizing the body,” Sue is an excellent instructor, explains everything really well and makes the class super fun too!”

“Sue uses gentle yoga stretches, flexibility and strength/balance exercises plus eye and brain coordination activities, all in a small class setting. She explains what each movement does for our bodies and always encourages us to do the right amount of work for ourselves at this time. Highly recommend! I feel better after each class.”

“Qigong has been a new experience for me. I learned about it at Evergreen PT lab, where Sue Brian introduced classes there. Since I regularly work on my strength, balance and building muscle, and play Pickleball often, I was looking for softer breath work, stretching and relaxing. Qigong has been a wonderful compliment. I feel refreshed with an overall feeling of relaxation and fresh energy. I encourage everyone to give it a try.”

I appreciate your soothing voice as well as your gentle manner and learning how the various exercises help my body and the intention behind the moves. I am so grateful that I can enjoy this all from the comfort of my home! With much gratitude.”

“Yoga and dance were my outlets for meditation until I suffered a knee injury and post-traumatic stress in a hurricane. There were other emotional and stressful events with which I was struggling, but after the hurricane, I was unable to exercise and quiet my mind with the meditation methods that had served me before. Enter health coach and QiGong instructor, Sue Brian.Working with Sue has been absolutely essential to getting back on a positive life path! Her sincere and authentic wish to not only help me heal, but to thrive and move forward is life-changing for me.Sue introduced a variety of methods to assist me on my journey back to a constructive path in my torn-apart life. The Wheel of Life, along with the exploration of my Value Card exercises, are tremendously helpful as they provide a macro picture of what is and is not priority, cast light on what I want to improve and aspects that need to be discarded. Formulating my personal Character Strengths is another amazing and valuable element added to my toolkit as identifying and applying my personal character strengths is essential in creating a strategy for moving forward. Additionally, learning Qigong practices like breath work, movement, healing sounds and meditation - focusing my intention and working to clear energy paths within my body has helped me immensely. Incorporating these Qigong techniques into my daily routine got me through a very difficult and sad time of my life! Sue is helping me make substantial positive changes that have been key in quieting the “hurricane” in my mind and body - she provided me with tools to help me find peace of mind again and I am forever grateful and look forward to continuing my practice with her.”
